The association Chant des Lames organizes the first edition of the Zimbabwean festival in France from 21-22 July. The weekend offers courses of several disciplines; marimbas, dance, kalimba and singing. Sign up and enjoy the discovery of Zimbabwe music.

To meet all together outside the workshops, the concert “TEMPO MARIMBA” will be offered on Saturday evening at 19:30, open to the public. A final restitution will be organized with the participants at the end of the internship to share and relive what you have learned during the two days.

July 21-22 WEEKEND MUSIC OF ZIMBABWE

Stage Kalimba & Chant Traditional

The internship will consist of 2 phases:

An introductory phase to kalimba (also called nyunga nyunga or often in France, sanza). Piece variations will be discussed according to the level of learning of each participant.
A second phase will be dedicated to the learning of traditional songs (sung in Shona) that can be sung on the same pieces of kalimba learned during the first phase. Traditional singing in Zimbabwe is often accompanied by the mbira (grand sister of the kalimba).
